Dawn Husted’s Proustish Questionnaire

October 19, 2017 by Kelsey Stone

The Proust-ish Questionnaire

Dawn joined us as a guest on the podcast this last weekend. Check out her fantastic answers to our Proust-ish questionnaire and give her episode a listen, if you haven’t already!

Q. If not yourself, which fictional character would you be?

  1. Oh man! This is a hard one! Hmmm I’d love to be the badass Clary from The Mortal Instruments series. Pretty much any strong chick with a supernatural power, I’m game.

Q. Who are your favorite heroine and hero from fiction?

  1. I don’t have a favorite, but I do have a couple that I like!
    1. Heroine: Shay from Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. Shay is awesome and lives in a futuristic time when hoverboards can fly. OR Terra from The Burn by Annie Oldham!
    2. Hero: The Egyptian Prince from Reawakened by Colleen Houck. Who wouldn’t want to be an Egyptian Prince?

Q. If you could have dinner with any three authors, dead or alive, whom would you dine with?

  1. Hands down, in no particular order: John Green, Patrick Ness, and Cheryl Strayed.

Q. Do you have a current or “forever” favorite book?

  1. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
    1. I’ve never cried so much from a book. I’m not a cryer! But it wasn’t a choice, the book moved me so deeply … in a good way.
  2. Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert
    1. If you’re a creative person who’s pursuing acreative passion, this book is a MUST read.

Q. Which fictional character would you want to befriend?

  1. I’d like to meet Max Brooks from World War Z, or maybe it’s that I’d like to meet Brad Pitt who played him. LOL But I love zombies, and his character has seen a lot of them and lived through apocalyptic times. Sad thing is: I wasn’t much fond of the book, but I loved the movie. That doesn’t happen often, but it happened.
  2. I’d also like to meet Henry from The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger so that I can time travel. Loved both the book and the movie!

Q. What villain from fiction do you love to hate?

  1. Mason from Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick. He’s a villain at first, and the reader doesn’t know whether or not to trust him. I won’t give away the ending, but I like him!
  2. Klaus from Vampire Diaries (character from the television show, b/c I’ve never read the books)

Q. Tell us about the books in your life that have fed your soul, brought you solace, pleasure, or joy, or eased your mind.

  1. I like many fiction books, BUT I also love a good memoire. Those books bring me a lot of solace and joy as well!
    1. Tales of a Female Nomad: Living at Large in the World by Rita Golden Gelman
    2. Wild: From Lost to Found on The Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed
    3. ***Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert
    4. Bare Bones: I’m Not Lonely If You’re Reading This Book by Bobby Bones
  2. The books above are the naked truth from each author, and I can’t help but be inspired to “grab life by the horns” after I read them. They make you want to live without regret, and to remember that failure is certain when reaching new heights. I love them.

Q. If you could exist in any story world, which would you choose, and why?

  1. Hush, Hush books. The story is about an ordinary girl whose life is infiltrated by fallen angels. Anything with a good love story and great plot, count me in! It’s been a couple of years since I read the books, so I don’t have specifics :-O

Meet Dawn Husted:

Dawn Husted holds a BS from Texas A&M University. When not writing, she’s either camping or dreaming about camping. She lives in southern Texas with her husband and two kids.

In her spare time, she studies German, aber sie ist nicht sehr gut.

Her love for stories of a darker nature resonates in her work. Whether it’s the science fiction or urban fantasy genre, her readers will devour each chapter.

The romanticism of the supernatural is well-crafted in Touch of Darkness and Scythe of Darkness. These gripping books weave fate and destiny in a new unsuspecting way.

Don’t forget to check out Touch of Darkness and Scythe of Darkness!

Touch of Darkness is a short-story prequel written to give readers a different view of one of the main characters in Scythe of Darkness.

The books were written with love and passion for the supernatural. Dawn wished to put a spin on the Angel of Death, also known as the Grim Reaper. Scythe of Darkness is infused with a romance between two characters whose attraction is irresistible … and deadly.

You can find the prequel (released August 2017) free on Kindle, Nook, and Wattpad. Touch of Darkness and Scythe of Darkness Covers.JPG
